These Girls Are Trippin

Why Taking a Break with Your Squad is the Ultimate Self-Care Practice

I just returned from one of the best trips to date. No, I wasn’t sunbathing in the Mediterranean, my girls and I hit up Charleston, South Carolina to celebrate a friend’s birthday and boy did we have a time. Time spent with these amazing women was the nourishing medicine my soul needed.
Although supportive, my husband doesn’t understand how impactful these trips are for me and what they do to make me a better wife and mother to my children. It’s like a breath of fresh air, a chance to recharge my batteries and return to reality like a new woman.
When you’re knee-deep in the daily grind of work, kids, and chores, it’s easy to lose sight of who you really are. As much as I meditate, stick to a healthy self-care habit, and practice gratitude, I still find myself, my true self, lost in the shuffle.
Girls’ trips are like a beacon of light in a dark, dreary world. These trips aren’t just vacations; they’re the secret potion for my soul — filled with laughter, bonding, and maybe a little too much tequila. It is an opportunity to forget about the stress of everyday life and overcome monotony blues.
I have an essential need for synchronized chaos (in doses) and trips like this is an opportunity to unleash the wild side that’s been tamed by responsibility and societal expectations.
The camaraderie formed on girls’ trips is unparalleled. An unspoken bond develops when you find yourself in a questionable bar at 2 AM, belting out early 2000s power ballads with your girls. These trips are a masterclass in cackling until your stomach hurts.
It’s scientifically proven that the sound of waves crashing on the shore and the gentle clinking of wine glasses can have a calming effect on the human mind.
The importance of women taking girls’ trips cannot be overstated. It’s not just about the destination; it’s about the literal and metaphorical journey. It’s a way to blow off some steam and return home renewed, refreshed, and ready to tackle anything.
So next time you feel overwhelmed, pack your bags, rally the troops, and set off on a quest for adventure, laughter, and unabashed joy. Hopefully, your partner will understand.
