The Only Self-Care Tip You Need
Grab this Gem ASAP

Recently a scheduled lunch date was canceled at the last minute, leaving me lunching alone. For many, this may be commonplace, but as I sat in solitude sipping a very tasty Paloma (shh, it’s dry January, and I’m not supposed to be drinking), I remembered how comfortable I am being by myself. In fact, it may be the most important self-care tool I have.
I’m an only child. So pretty comfy entertaining myself. Being a wife and mother of two doesn’t afford me much solidarity in this season of life. When things get crazy and the inner critic starts to chat, taking a moment alone has always been my answer.
Life has been “life-ing,” and I forgot how much I need this time. During lunch, I went over my schedule, journaled, meditated, took a few cute selfies, and attempted to connect with my highest self.
This short period, an hour, provided the reset I needed.
One of the greatest benefits of spending time alone is personal development. The more you understand yourself, the more likely you are to do things you love, learn things that interest you, and spend time with people who make you feel amazing.
While at lunch, basking in the solitude, I scheduled my next solo date. If I don’t put it on my calendar, I won’t prioritize it.
This year, let’s take more time for ourselves, by ourselves.
