If You Feel Stuck in Life, Read This
We’ve all had that feeling. You want something different — maybe a new job, a creative project, or just a shift in your routine — but no matter what you do, you feel stuck. Like you’re moving in circles instead of forward.
I know that feeling all too well. I’ve sat with it, wrestled with it, convinced myself I just needed more time, more planning, or the “right” moment. But if I’ve learned anything, it’s that waiting doesn’t help. Clarity doesn’t just appear one day. You create it by moving, even when you don’t feel ready.
So if you’re stuck, here’s how to break out of the loop and finally get things moving in the right direction.
1. Get Real About Why You’re Stuck
You might think you’re stuck because you don’t know what to do next. But more often than not, the real reason is fear. Fear of failure. Fear of success (yes, that’s real). Fear of what people will think.
Ask yourself: What am I really afraid of? Write it down. Say it out loud. Because once you acknowledge it, fear loses some of its grip.
One of the best tools I’ve found for this is journaling. There’s something about writing things down that makes them feel less overwhelming. If you need a structured way to start, the BestSelf Co. Journal is a great tool for getting your thoughts organized and setting clear goals.
2. Stop Overthinking and Start Moving
Perfectionism and overthinking will have you running in place for years. You don’t need the perfect plan. You don’t need to “feel ready.” You just need to take one step. Then another.
Want to start a business? Draft a simple offer and put it out there. Want to write a book? Outline a messy first draft and start typing. The sooner you take imperfect action, the sooner you’ll have something to refine.
3. Shrink the Problem
When a goal feels massive, it’s easy to freeze. Instead of saying, “I need to quit my job and launch a six-figure business,” start with, “I need to make an extra $500 this month doing something I enjoy.” Instead of, “I need to get in shape,” try, “I’m going to move my body for 20 minutes today.”
Break it down. Make it bite-sized. Big things happen when you consistently do small things.
4. Audit Your Circle
Who’s in your ear? If your friends, family, or colleagues make you second-guess your every move, it’s time to protect your energy. Find people who push you forward, not hold you back. If you don’t have those people in real life yet, get in the right rooms — online, through books, podcasts, or events.
Surround yourself with people who are where you want to be, and watch how quickly things shift.
5. Remember: Action Creates Clarity
Clarity doesn’t come from thinking about things endlessly. It comes from doing. You won’t know if something works until you try. And if it doesn’t? That’s data, not failure. Adjust and keep going.
So if you’re waiting for a sign, this is it. Make the move. Send the email. Write the post. Launch the idea. The only way to get unstuck is to start moving.
